Condominiums
The condominium form of ownership has become increasingly popular throughout the United States mostly due to increases in land costs for urban areas. The areas inside the unit from the interior walls, floors and ceilings inward belong to the owner. Once outside the unit, the ownership is shared in common with the other unit owners. This includes the exterior walls of the building, the roof, sidewalks, pools/spa areas, landscapes, etc.
The common areas are maintained by an association of unit owners which handle the day to day responsibilities of maintenance, repair, and cleaning. The expenses of maintaining and operating the building are paid by the unit owners in the form of fees and assessments.
